External Quality Assurance
The new apprenticeship standard for Level 3 Motor Vehicle Service and Maintenance Technician has been developed by employers who have opted to take on the responsibility for ongoing quality. The government-appointed, employer-led Trailblazer Governance Group will play an important role in making sure the apprenticeship remains relevant to the requirements of the industry.
As part of fulfilling this responsibility, the Trailblazer group have nominated RMI Standards and Certification to assess all elements of the quality of the end-point assessments (EPAs) on an ongoing basis. The objectives of this External Quality Assurance are to:
- Fulfil the requirements that have been stipulated by Regulatory Authorities, including the Institute for Apprenticeships (IFA)
- Ensure EPAs are carried out as specified by the Trailblazer Standard
- Ensure consistency across End Point Assessment organisations
- Ensure consistency across facilities, equipment and EPA questions and tasks.
RMISC was approved as the External Quality Assurance (EQA) body for the Motor Vehicle Service and Maintenance Technician (Light Vehicle) – Level 3 apprenticeship standard on 22nd February 2018.
