MOT Training
MOT Training
RMISC offers an extensive suite of MOT training courses crafted to equip automotive technicians with the critical skills, knowledge, and certifications required to become certified MOT testers at training centres throughout the UK.
MOT Tester 4 & 7 Course
This four-day intensive course is specifically tailored for seasoned automotive technicians seeking certification to test Class 4 and Class 7 vehicles, which include standard cars and light commercial vehicles. The training combines theoretical instruction with hands-on experience, culminating in an online examination to assess theoretical knowledge and a practical skills assessment. Technicians can complete the practical component at the RMI Academy training facility or, if preferred, at their own business location, providing flexibility and convenience.
MOT Tester 1 & 2 Course
Designed for experienced motorcycle technicians, this targeted three-day course prepares candidates for certification as MOT testers for Classes 1 and 2, which cover motorcycles and similar two-wheeled vehicles. Participants gain essential skills and knowledge to perform thorough, safe, and compliant motorcycle inspections. This course covers all aspects needed to assess and inspect motorcycles, ensuring technicians are well-prepared for both the theory and practical components of motorcycle MOT testing confidently and correctly.
MOT Centre Management Course
This mandatory two-day course is designed for those aiming to manage MOT stations, including prospective site managers and others responsible for overseeing MOT operations. It covers essential management skills and regulatory requirements, providing the knowledge required to effectively supervise MOT testing facilities. This training is highly beneficial for those in leadership roles who are responsible for ensuring compliance and operational efficiency.
Vehicle Technician Accredited Assessment (VTAA) Course
The VTAA course is a three-day program designed for automotive technicians who conduct vehicle inspections, repairs, and maintenance, but who may not hold a Level 3 qualification or equivalent certification. This course helps bridge that gap, offering accreditation that demonstrates up-to-date competence and provides a recognised path toward qualifying as an MOT tester for Class 3, 4, 5, or 7 vehicles. The program includes two training days covering essential skills, followed by an assessment day to verify the technician’s ability to conduct emission testing, inspect vehicles for faults, make repairs, interpret wiring diagrams, and apply knowledge effectively in practice.
