Fundamentals of on-board diagnostics
Introduction
This course covers the fundamentals of on-board diagnostics (OBD) and will introduce you to SERMI. The main topics covered include:
- What is OBD/EOBD
- Emission control legislation
- Accessing the vehicle self-diagnostic system
- Understanding diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs)
- OBD2 readiness monitors
- Understanding standard code composition
- The importance of on-board diagnostics
- The SERMI scheme
At the end of the course there is a 20 question, multiple-choice OBD assessment. On achieving a grade of 80% or above, a CPD certificate will be generated and will be available in the ‘Assessment and Certificate‘ section. This certificate proves you have successfully completed this course and passed the assessment.
It is expected that this course will take an average of 4 hours to complete.
